Having served behind the scenes in many capacities in the political arena, I've made the decision that it was time to step out and serve in the public arena.
As I've watched others in elected position, I've often thought that I too had something to offer. In some cases something different, and in some cases something more.
My years of political and community activism have honed the skills which I know will serve me well as a public servant.
Just as important in my education, have been the 25 years that I worked as a Purchasing professional for several major corporations. One cannot be a success in the corporate world today unless they have the interpersonal and job skills necessary to produce results.
In my first position as a female chemical buyer in a male dominated segment of Purchasing, I faced the challenges so many women have who were at the forefront of an area in which few women were previously employed. Those were wonderful learning years for me and I am comfortable saying that I eventually earned the trust and respect of my male counter-parts.
Franklin is my adopted home having moved in only 5 years ago. I've come to have deep appreciation for its diverse residents, it's beauty and it's complexity.
Franklin, unlike other communities I've lived in is in the process of "becoming". Having been a farming community 10 scant years ago, I am excited about being part of the governing body that will continue guiding Franklin, with sensitivity and intelligence, to the next phase of it's evolution and make it's designation as the 5th Best Place to Live something tangible for every resident.
